Keeping products afloat

What we know

Leaving the EU means more controls have been introduced, like full customs declarations (including HS Codes) for example.

The Free Trade Agreement also means that Country of Origin status will be required to benefit from zero duty.

While imports are subject to a six month ‘simplified procedure’ designed to facilitate customs clearance in the short term, exports won’t be.

What we’ve done

We currently import and export outside the EU, so are very familiar with the processes that need to be followed for countries outside of the single market.

Brexit will however materially impact on the scale of our customs declarations and we are resourcing appropriately to meet this challenge.

All our systems and processes have been updated to account for the additional documentation and declarations that will be required including holding HS Codes and Country of Origin details for our goods.

What you need to consider

If you are importing or exporting goods into Europe (including Ireland) you will be required to make a full customs declaration.

Top tip: You will need to have the right systems and processes in place to deal with the customs procedures. This will include holding a HS code and a Country of Origin code for all your goods.
